4 Key Questions Before Starting Any Business

Before launching any business, you must answer four key questions.

1. Who Is Your Dream Client?

Knowing age and location is not enough. Go deeper.

  • What are their passions and hobbies?
  • What kind of shows do they watch?
  • Where do they travel? What do they love doing?
  • What keeps them awake at night?

Think beyond demographics. Understand their psychographics — beliefs, desires, fears, goals. This will help you craft messaging that connects with their brain and heart. The better you know them, the easier it becomes to write content, ads, and offers that convert.

2. Where Can You Find Them?

Your dream client already exists. Your job is to locate them online.

  • Are they active on Facebook groups?
  • Do they spend time on YouTube, Instagram, or Reddit?
  • What blogs, podcasts, or influencers do they follow?

Map out the platforms where they’re already spending time. This will help you place your hooks (ads, content, lead magnets) in the right place and grab their attention fast.

3. What Bait Will Attract Them?

Think like a fisherman — you need the right bait.
In marketing, bait = your lead magnet or hook. It could be:

  • A free guide
  • A video training
  • A free trial
  • A quiz or cheat sheet

The key is to offer something valuable that solves a micro-problem for your dream client — something that makes them say: “Yes, I need this!”

4. What Result Do You Want to Give Them?

Your client doesn’t pay for information — they pay for transformation.
Ask yourself:

  • What problem am I solving for them?
  • What does “success” look like for them?
  • How can I take them from Point A (struggling) to Point B (desired result)?

Once this is clear, your offer, sales message, and funnel strategy will align with their expectations. This is how trust is built and sales happen.
